Blackhawks recall Hinostroza, activate Crawford


The Chicago Blackhawks announced Friday that they recalled forward Vince Hinostroza from the Rockford IceHogs and assigned forward Tanner Kero to Rockford. The Blackhawks also assigned J.F. Berube to the IceHogs and activated Corey Crawford off injured reserve.

Hinostroza, 23, leads the IceHogs and is currently tied for 11th in the AHL with 9g-13a-22pts in 23 games this season. The Bartlett, Illinois, native has six multi-point games with the IceHogs and notched a career high-tying three points (3a) in Rockford’s most recent win against the Texas Stars on Dec. 2.

Kero, 25, appeared in eight NHL games this year, tallying one goal and two assists. The Hancock, Michigan native has split the last two seasons between the IceHogs and Blackhawks, combining for 32g-32a-64pts in 94 AHL games with Rockford and 8g-14a-22pts in 72 NHL games with Chicago.

Berube, 26, appeared in one game with the Blackhawks, stopping 12 of 14 shots against the Washington Capitals on Dec. 6. The netminder has now combined to post a 6-4-3 record with a 3.09 GAA and .899 save percentage in 22 career NHL games between the New York Islanders (2015-17) and Blackhawks (2017).

Berube returns to the IceHogs where he has compiled a 6-6-0 record with a 2.54 GAA, .913 save percentage and two shutouts in 12 games this season. He began the year with a 32-save shutout in his Rockford debut on Oct. 7 at Cleveland and won each of his first five starts with a 5-0-0 record, 1.38 GAA and .950 save percentage through Oct. 25.
