The Byron Tigers blanked a high-powered Williamsville offense in the 3-A quarterfinal to earn a home playoff game in the semifinal, the first to ever happen on the Tigers' turf in Ogle County, per head coach Jeff Boyer.
Byron is 12-0, their most wins in a single season since they went 14-0 and won the 1999 3-A state championship, with Boyer and Sean Considine leading the way on the field that year for Everett Stine. Now those two are on the Byron coaching staff, with their team maintaining perfection this year heading into the 3-A semifinals against the defending 3-A state champion, I.C. Catholic from Elmhurst.
Everett Stine Stadium will be jam-packed with a rocking atmosphere on Saturday, with these two teams kicking off at 2:00 pm.
