Former Boylan state champion and current SIUE golfer Danny Gorman dominated the weekend at the 47th Annual Seth B. Atwood Golf Classic, winning the tournament by seven strokes.
Gorman recorded an opening round 71 to bring a one-shot lead into Sunday against Jeff Holmgarrd. Garrett Ralston rounded out the leadership trio playing together in the final round, and Ralston and Holmgarrd each finished with a two-day 150, unable to match Gorman's two-day 143 after he carded a day two 72 at Atwood Homestead Golf Course.
"Definitely the ball striking," said Gorman, crediting his drives and approaches with the two-day victory. "I didn't make too many putts at all, but as long as you find the greens, give yourself easy two putts. It was stress free all weekend."
"Hopefully this spring boards me to the rest of the season and I can get a few more wins."
