The IHSA girls soccer postseason has reached the Super-Sectional round for the 1-A bracket, and sectional semifinals kicked off in 2-A and 3-A classes. Hononegah stole the show on Tuesday with a dramatic semifinal victory at Huntley.
The Lady Indians defeated Crystal Lake South, 1-0, on a 3-2 penalty kick shootout. After a scoreless regulation and pair of overtime periods, Hononegah outlasted the Lady Gators in sudden death shootout after a 2-2 tie through five kickers. Alyssa Darling came up with some huge saves in net, and Julia Barenbaum's final goal wrapped up the semifinal victory. Hononegah faces Huntley on Friday in the 3-A sectional championship match at 5:00.
Stillman Valley's historic run to the 1-A Elite eight ended in the Hampshire Super-Sectional as Johnsburg defeated the Lady Cardinals, 3-0.
