Dozens of people poured into the University of Illinois College of Medicine's Rockford Campus for the Annual Rockford Survivors and Emergency Responders event on Friday.
People who's lives were saved by Rockford Fire personnel were given the chance to say their heartfelt thank you's in person. Some survivors say they come back year after year to continue to share their gratitude with first responders.
"I would like to thank them again," says heart attack survivor Armando Quinonez. "They're like my guardian angels, they're looking out for me and looking out for a bunch of other people."
Among those honored were the two men who helped save a kayaker from the Fordham Dam in March.
