It was a rude awakening for some in a downtown Rockford neighborhood Thursday night.
Several Rockford Police Officers scattered across the North Highland neighborhood searching for a man they say took off after a routine traffic stop just before midnight.
Jeremiah Simmons, 37, of Rockford, has been charged with are variety of charges, including possession of cocaine with the intent to deliver, aggravated fleeing to elude and resisting a police officer.
Police and K-9 officers were out walking door to door down North Prospect Street looking for Simmons.
Police say it took about 15 minutes for officers to eventually locate Simmons. He was taken into custody without incident.
He is now being held in the Winnebago County Jail.
