Rockford gymnast Kate Foster took center stage in Philadelphia at the 2017 NFL Draft, announcing the Chicago Bears' second round selection.
Foster lost her left leg during a battle with leukemia, but the Spirit of the Flame award winner has blazed her trail of recovery to inspire others, and was recognized by the NFL, standing alongside 1985 Bears Super Bowl champion Jay Hilgenberg, Walter Payton Man of the Year Sam Acho, and commissioner Roger Goodell.
The Bears tabbed Ashland tight end Adam Shaheen with their second round choice, who stands 6'7'' and weighs 278 pounds.
Chicago's NFC North neighbors in Green Bay made defensive upgrades - the Packers took Washington cornerback Kevin King, the second round's first pick of the evening. Safety Josh Jones from NC State was taken in the second round by Green Bay, and the Packers' made a third defensive choice in the third round with Auburn defensive tackle Montravius Adams.
