The City of Freeport hosted the Northern Illinois Mayor's Association meeting Thursday at their newly renovated city hall.
Current Mayor Jim Gitz wanted to use the meeting not only to talk with local leaders, but to also showcase how well an older building can function in a modern setting. Freeport's incoming city manager was also in attendance. He says he is already focused on future projects like the city hall renovation.
Incoming City Manager Lowell Crow says that with an older building like the Freeport City Hall it is important to look for things like historic building tax credit to help develop the project.
A dinner was held Thursday evening to function as a formal opportunity for a sit down meeting between the members of the Northern Illinois Mayor's Association.
