The Winnebago County State’s Attorney announced Thursday that a Rockford man has been found guilty of trying to kill his wife.

State’s Attorney Joe Bruscato says Donald Harvey, 54, was found guilty of attempted first degree murder and aggravated discharge of a firearm after a jury trial Thursday. The jury also found that Harvey personally discharged the firearm during the crime.

Harvey was arrested in January 2014 in connection with the June 2012 shooting of his then-wife in Rockford.

The victim told police that Harvey shot her multiple times with a shotgun at their home. The victim’s two children each called 911 from separate locations inside their home during the incident.

The victim had to undergo multiple surgeries because of her gunshot wounds. Police say one of the shots fired hit a crib where the victim's grandson was sleeping.

Harvey now faces between 30-60 years in prison.
