The Rockford IceHogs finally broke through a nine-game winless streak, topping the Manitoba Moose 4-2 at the BMO Harris Bank Center on a snowy Saturday night.
The IceHogs fell behind 1-0 early, and then tempers flared as Erik Gustafsson and JC Lipon dropped the gloves, sparking Rockford. Tanner Kero tied the game, pouncing on a loose rebound, and then another fight ensued with captain Jake Dowell doing the honors. Luke Johnson gave the IceHogs a 2-1 lead before a wild first period came to a close.
After a scoreless second period, Nick Schmaltz and Mark McNeill found the back of the net to power the IceHogs back into the win column. Rockford visits Chicago on Sunday before returning home on Wednesday for another matchup with the Wolves.
