The Big Ten conference lived up to its namesake - the regular season finale featured big matchups and nationwide implications for the forthcoming College Football Playoff.

The Big Ten championship game will feature Wisconsin and Penn State after both teams clinched their divisions on Saturday. The Badgers knocked off Minnesota in the battle for Paul Bunyan's Axe, scoring three unanswered touchdowns en route to a 31-17 victory. The Nittany Lions booked their trip to the conference title tilt with a 45-12 victory against Michigan State.

Penn State was catapulted to the Big Ten finale after an instant classic between a pair of top five teams. The Game delivered a thriller between Michigan and Ohio State in Columbus as the Buckeyes outlasted the Wolverines in double overtime, 30-27. They'll watch from home and wait for the final CFP rankings.

Elsewhere in the Big Ten, Northwestern secured a bowl-eligible sixth win at home with a 42-21 rout of Illinois in the Land of Lincoln Trophy game. The Wildcats forced four turnovers and thrashed the Illini on the ground, winning the run game battle by a 278-57 margin. Northwestern awaits its bowl game while Illinois heads home with a 3-9 record in Lovie Smith's first season in Champaign.
