Boylan senior football captain Noah Hickcox is our OSF Saint Anthony's Athlete of the Week - the Titans lineman has been an emotional and imposing presence on and off the field for a team that improved by five wins this season en route to sharing the NIC-10 championship.
Hickcox had his signature game against Hononegah early in the season, played two days after the death of his father to a brief bout with pancreatic cancer. Noah played to honor his father, Luke, and recorded a pick-six in a Boylan victory. He even predicted it would happen the week of the game.
It was an emotional night that fueled an emotional year. "I felt it the whole day," Hickcox says of his late father's presence the night of the Boylan-Hononegah game. "During school, pregame, during the game, the first snap, I knew he was there, I knew he was going to look over us."
Hickcox and the Titans host St. Viator in the first round of the 6A playoffs this Saturday at 1:00 on Boylan's field.
