At Meridian Junior High School, Todd Hall teaches his 6th graders English. He teaches them how to properly construct words to make a sentence. But for his students, there are not enough words to describe their teacher.
"I think he's the best teacher here because he explains everything," said 6th grader Aiden Livingston.
Hall is known for going the extra mile in the classroom to make his lessons entertaining. Hall said, "I am always trying to make things fun and try to relate to them because that is what I think is key to make things interesting so they can succeed."
Hall does that by utilizing technology in his class. "A lot of technology," remarks Hall. "Computers, Google classroom, apps. I try to incorporate as much technology as I can. It seems to keep the kids interest."
While he thinks technology is important, his most effective teaching tool isn't part of his lesson plan. "If there is a kid having a bad day, I want to make them feel better about themselves. Just help them realize that its just one day at a time. The futures in their hands and they can do anything they want," Hall said.
A struggling student himself, it was a message given to him in school. Hall said, "The reason I'm a teacher is because a previous teacher did that for me. Back when I was in high school, I never thought I'd be a teacher. He made a big impact in my life and I thought that I wanted to do the same for my students."
Now he is giving students the confidence to go on to do bigger and better things. Hall said, "If you put your mind to it, anything can happen"
