Why do people vote the way they do?A local political scientist talks about the process.Rock Valley College political science professor P.S. Ruckman explained the formula during a Rockford Chamber of Commerce breakfast.
He says people may complain about negative campaigning, but it works.
"Personal attacks and negative campaigns, that's a part of our election cycle because increasingly voters are responding to those kinds of things," said Ruckman.
Ruckman says party affiliation is not as important as it used to be with voters looking at what individual candidates stand for.
