UPDATE: The Winnebago County Coroner has released the name of the man killed in a motorcycle accident Thursday. 

The coroner says Mark Anderson, 60, from Winnebago County, died from injures sustained during the crash. The coroner lists the cause of death as blunt trauma to the head due to a motorcycle crash. 

Officers were called to the intersection of Rockton and Latham around 3:30 p.m. Thursday on a report of the motorcycle and car accident. Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:45 p.m. 

The accident is still under investigation. An autopsy is pending and toxicology results will be available in about two weeks.


The Winnebago County Sheriff's Office says a motorcyclist was killed after a crash in Rockford Thursday afternoon. 

The Sheriff's Office says the crash occurred around 3 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of Rockton and Latham.

Deputies say the eastbound motorcycle collided with the westbound car. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The Winnebago County Coroner says the rider was a 60-year-old man. His name has not yet been released.  

The accident is now under investigation. An autopsy is pending and toxicology results will be available in about two weeks.
