NORMAL, IL (WREX) -

Rockford Lutheran graduate James Robinson got his first action on the NCAA gridiron, recording 70 yards from scrimmage in a 50-13 Illinois State rout of Valparaiso at Hancock Stadium in Normal.

Robinson became the all-time rushing leader in Illinois high school football history in 2015 as a senior for the Crusaders, and made an immediate impact for his new head coach, Rockford native Brock Spack.

Robinson's first carry was a 13-yard gain on the ground, and his first touchdown was a 33-yard screen pass play that left multiple defenders in his wake. He finished with 37 rushing yards, and 33 yards receiving.
