A Rockford man who allegedly beat a pizza delivery driver with a baseball bat and then robbed him is now in jail.
Police say it happened on Aug. 5 just before 9 p.m. at the 3300 block of Searles Avenue. An officer, along with a Rockford Park District K-9 tried to find the two suspects but it wasn't until the next day around 11:30 a.m. when an officer found suspects matching the description. Darius Council, 18, matched the description, along with a 16-year-old boy.
The Winnebago County State's Attorney's Office then issued robbery and aggravated battery charges against Council and the juvenile.
Police arrested Council on Thursday and he's being lodged in the Winnebago County Jail. The juvenile boy has not yet been taken into custody.
