The Rockford Rivets returned home for a July 4th matinee, and erupted for a big offensive day at the plate, beating the St. Cloud Rox 12-3 in Loves Park.
Hunter Hargrove started the high-scoring affair with a bases-loaded double in the first inning, scoring all three runners in one play. The rest of the crooked numbers for the Rivets came courtesy of three runs in the sixth and six runs in the seventh.
Rockford hosted Bark in the Park for the holiday, inviting four-legged fans and their patriotic accessories to Rivets Stadium. The Rox and Rivets are back in action Tuesday with a 6:35 first pitch.
