A line of thunderstorms is moving into northern Illinois from Iowa, and may bring some intense weather to the area throughout the evening and early tonight. These storms have plenty of energy and moisture to work with, so an occasional brief severe storm isn't out of the question. The main risks this evening are for damaging wind gusts, followed by large hail.
Most of the thunderstorms will be frequent lightning, so if you hear thunder, head inside immediately to stay safe. With the high humidity, the evening thunderstorms will also bring heavy downpours at times. Watch out for water on the roads, and if you see anything that looks deep, find a different route.
The scattered storms will continue into early Wednesday, then the weather should die down from there. You can stay updated and alert with the 13 Weather Authority be heading to www.wrex.com/weather.
