The Rockford Park District approved building a new ride at Magic Waters.
The AquaLoop is described as "a type of body water slide where single riders are dropped down a near vertical slide and into an inclined loop."
“Citizen ideas and user feedback are very important and helped determine what should be included in our Master Plan," said Rockford Park District Executive Director Tim Dimke. "Through our research, users ranked the AquaLoop as the number one waterslide they would like to see at Magic Waters Waterpark, so we are moving forward with bringing this next wave of fun for our guests to enjoy in 2017."
Monday night, the Park District's Board of Commissioners approved paying FGM Architects $213,050 to complete a design study for the new waterslide and for upgrades to the Little Lagoon.
The Little Lagoon would have "various surface improvements, adding soft play water toys, and new tot slides that will allow parents and their children to ride together."
The last major addition to Magic Waters was in 2012 when the Double Dare Drop was unveiled.
