It was another busy weekend for Rockford Police as the city continues to deal with a rash of violence during the month of May.
Three separate shootings since Sunday morning have sent three people to the hospital.
The first took place Sunday afternoon in the 3400 block of Garfield Avenue where a woman was shot while sitting in her car. She was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police are still trying to figure out if the woman was the target of if the shooting was a random act. No arrests have been made.
The second shooting took place late last night in the 2800 block of 10th Street during a birthday party. Two people were shot when witnesses say they heard 7 to 10 gun shots. Both victims were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police are searching for two suspects at this time but no arrests have been made.
The third shooting took place just after midnight Monday morning when police say a house on the 1300 block of Sherman Avenue was hit by gunfire. Nobody was injured in this incident but police say a witness saw an older white van driving slowly toward the house then an occupant fired at the residence. This too is an ongoing investigation.
