At about 2:45 a.m., Rockford Police responded to 1600 9th St. for a shooting investigation.
Two males subjects reported that they were walking in the area, when they were confronted by two armed suspects. One of the males was robbed by the suspects, who then ran northbound toward a nearby residence.
Two women were entering the front door of the residence, when the suspects approached. The women closed the front door, and one shot was fired through the door. A female victim was transported by Rockford Fire to an area hospital, with a non life-threatening gunshot wound to her leg.
One of the suspects is described as a black male, 25 years of age, 6 feet tall, thin build, last seen wearing a black or gray sweatshirt. The other suspect described as a male, no other suspect information. The suspects were armed with a pistol and a shotgun, according to police.
The suspects possibly fled in a gray SUV. The investigation is ongoing.
