Last minute Mother's Day gift shoppers are in luck.  There are plenty of presents available to make mom feel special.  Some local Rockford shops said the holiday has been a whirlwind.

"This whole week has been really wild for us," Melissa Robertson, The Experience Salon & Spa General Manager said.  "Really really busy with lots of early gift cards sales and then today we've been pretty solid since about 8 am this morning "

A few Rockford area stores said they're seeing more business for this Mother's day than in previous years.

"Sales are definitely a lot higher this year than they have been in the past, but then again every year our sales are going up,"Lengjak said.

Companies like Edible Arrangements, which puts together bouquets of fruit and sweets, are even staying open longer.

"Normal hours for week days are usually like 8-5 but for a holiday it could be like from 8-7," Lengjak said.

So is Kings Flowers on East State Street.  It'll be open on Mother's Day for those who need florals fast.  Owners said this is one of their busiest holidays mostly thanks to their website.

"My online presence has brought in most of the extra business," Kings Flower owner Robert Niffenegger said.

Gift ideas can range from food, to flowers, to other fragrant items like candles.

"This is usually our quiet time of the year so it's a nice little boost," Candle Crest Co-owner Dave Bieck said.

Also there's always the option of picking up what could be the perfect pairing for mom wine and chocolate.  Artali Wine is also open on mother's day.
you can get a special sweet treat that's only available in their store.

"Cacaocuvé they're made in Rockford by a woman named Susan Pitkan. they've been a huge huge success for us,"  Artali Wine company owner Anthony Artale said.

Edible Arrangements are selling packages with teddy bears and chocolates and the experience salon & spa is offering a 5 hour spa package including massage, facial, manicure, pedicure, and makeup.
