A Rockford band is celebrating the release of its third CD with a show downtown to kick off its next tour.
Miles Nielsen & The Rusted Hearts new album "Heavy Metal" is going on sale. The band performed Friday night at Memorial Hall. The band says the album's name isn't to be confused with the genre, which typically is indie with folk melodies mixed in. Nielsen says having the tour kick-off in Rockford for the band's first album in three years is the perfect way to start off with a bang.
"It feels right to release the record on the day, and being in your hometown, in the place you currently live and a place that I love," Miles Nielsen said. "I like Rockford."
Nielsen says in the month of June alone, the shows lined up stretch from Mexico to Maine.
