Kids read and learn about smart spending habits for Money Smart Week
ROCKFORD (WREX) -
For Money Smart Week, all ages are learning about financial literacy.
The Rockford Public Library hosted a Money Smart "Kids Read" event Saturday morning.
Kids got a free copy of "Start Saving, Henry," a book about saving your allowance. They also made a dream board of the things they wanted, and learned different ways to save up their money to get them.
Organizers say its never too early to learn about smart saving habits.
"As they find themselves starting to come into money, they're able to remember that there's bigger things, bigger goals and dreams that they can possibly achieve with that money," said Melissa Juarez, an independent agent with Primerica Financial Services. "As opposed to immediate gratification with soda and snacks and things like that."
Money Smart Week is holding free classes daily for adults, as well, now through April 30. For class info, click here.
