Robotics teams in every school is the goal of the Rockford school district.
A fundraiser tried to help the district meet that goal in the next five years.
Right now, FIRST Robotics teams are only in some schools for some ages. The district wants to expand that to kindergarteners through seniors in high school. Students design robots to perform tasks and school leaders says it gives them a boost in STEM education.
"If we can expose our students to activities that enrich and nurture the science and technology and engineering skills that they're learning in the classroom by participating in these robotics teams, we'll have kids that are even stronger problem solvers," said Christina Magee, RPS 205 College and Career Academy Coach.
