Arrest warrant issued for armed bank robbery


Police have issued an arrest warrant for a man who allegedly robbed a bank in Rockford on Wednesday.

31-year-old Edward Everett Johnson III is wanted on a $500,000 arrest warrant for the armed robbery of a Chase Bank at 4425 Harrison Ave, according to police.

Police said Johnson allegedly approached a bank teller on Wednesday afternoon and asked to make a withdraw and then showed a bag and displayed a handgun. The teller gave an undisclosed amount of money and the suspect allegedly fled the scene in a silver Speedy Taxi minivan.

Police later found the minivan it's been impounded.
