Illinois State Police are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred on I-57 late Wednesday night.
According to police, a 39-year-old man was driving south near the Cal Sag when a vehicle pulled alongside him and opened fire. The driver then lost control of the vehicle and struck the concrete barrier on the right side of the expressway. Impact of the collision forced the vehicle back left across all lanes of traffic into the left concrete median barrier.
The driver was pronounced dead. There were no other passengers in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
Police have not released any information regarding a suspect or the make and model of the vehicle that was used in the incident.
