IceHogs blank Griffins at home, 4-0


The Rockford IceHogs started their final regular season homestand with a victory at the BMO Harris Bank Center, shutting out the Grand Rapids Griffins, 4-0.

Nick Mattson scored his first AHL goal in the first period to start the scoring for the Hogs. A scoreless second period preceded a goal-filled third for Rockford as they tallied three goals in the first five minutes of the frame. Ville Pokka, Tanner Kero, and Mark McNeill all scored to fuel the victory.

Mac Carruth earned the shutout victory, making 31 saves.

The IceHogs wrap up the regular season on Saturday against Milwaukee before the 2016 Calder Cup Playoffs begin next week.
