U.S. Postal Inspection Service offering reward for information on worker robbery in Rockford
ROCKFORD (WREX) -
The U.S. Postal Inspection Service says it is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspects who assaulted and robbed a Postal Service worker in Rockford on April 6.
Rockford Police say a letter carrier was delivering mail in the 200 block of N. Hinkley Avenue when he noticed he was being followed by several people. The mail carrier was then hit in the head by one of the people, then the rest started battering the victim, according to officials.
The victim had his wallet and phone stolen, and was taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
