Rockford Police say stoplights at several major intersections were out of order Saturday after the weather caused a power outage.
Intersections along North Main St. were affected, and drivers had to treat these intersections as four-way stops to get through.
Power has since been restored.
High winds even uprooted trees in Rockford on Saturday.
A massive tree fell over around 2 p.m., blocking the roadway on Ridge Ave. near Auburn St., which closed off lanes in that area while crews worked to clean things up.
Police say the tree did fall on wires, but there were no reported outages. They did not have an estimated time for when the street would open back up.
An hour later, the wind also took down a tree that broke a natural gas line after it fell at a home near Doris Ave. and Springfield Ave. in Rockford.
Emergency crews on the scene say that people living inside one home had to evacuate, but they are okay.
That house did have a power and gas outage. Nicor was on the scene working to fix the ruptured line.
