A Hononegah juniors has started a first-ever teen publishing company. His motivation? He wasn't given a second look when he wrote his first book.
"I tried to get it published in the traditional means of just sending your manuscript out and hoping it sticks somewhere. All of them rejected me just based on my age," says Omar Saulters.
So Saulters took matters in to his own hands by launching Salted Art Inc.
Its aim is to seek out the talent of young authors and help them grow their talents.
But first, Saulters is raising funds to really get the business off the ground. On Monday, he launched a Kickstarter campaign. His goal is to raise $15,000.
"It will give me the necessary money that I need to launch a national writing contest where I hope to have kids send in their manuscripts to me and I will review, edit them and I will personally pick the author," Saulters says.
