The Auburn Knights' magical playoff run through March ended on the final day of the boys basketball season in Peoria. Auburn finished 4th in the IHSA's 4A bracket, falling 83-55 to Simeon of Chicago in Saturday's consolation game.
Auburn's valiant effort in the state semifinals fell short in a 55-53 loss to Chicago Curie on Friday, setting up Saturday's third-place game entry. Devon Richardson scored 15 points off the bench against the Wolverines, while senior captain Tray Tyler added 8 points for the Knights.
Auburn finishes the 2015-2016 season with a 25-8 record and will return to Rockford on Sunday for a pep rally at the high school.
