Hundreds of butterflies arrive for exhibit at Nicholas Conservatory

With spring right around the corner, some new critters have arrived here in Rockford.

Hundreds of tropical butterflies came in Saturday at the Nicholas Conservatory to kick off their Simply Spring Butterfly Exhibit. Many different butterflies can be seen at the exhibit, including Monarchs and Painted Ladies. This year, there are many activities for kids, and adults, to enjoy.

"We introduced a friendly little stick that has a little nectar on it," said Kelly Moore, the facility manager at Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens. "That way, people can put them on there and get a little bit closer encounter with the butterflies without harming them."

The conservatory will bring in more butterflies along with the new ones emerging. The exhibit runs through Sunday, May 15. For more information on the Butterfly Exhibit and other activities, click here.
