The NIC-10 sent two teams to the Super-Sectional round of the 3A and 4A high school basketball postseason, and there will be one conference representative in Peoria on Friday.
The Auburn Knights coasted past Conant of Hoffman Estates, winning the 4-A Super-Sectional championship, 57-43. The Knights advance to state for the first time since 2012, Fred VanVleet's senior year at Auburn. Tray Tyler scored 10 points while Daevion Dixon added 16 points, 15 of them on three-pointers. Auburn will face Curie of Chicago on Friday at 6:30 PM at Peoria's Carver Arena.
The Boylan Titans fell to Peoria Manual at the NIU 3-A Super-Sectional, 61-58. Seniors Luke McDermott and Sam Fehrle combined to score 30 of Boylan's 58 points, whose season ends after a state-ranked, perfect NIC-10 campaign.
