Frank Fitzgerald wins Democratic nomination for Winnebago County Coroner, Bill Hintz wins Republican nomination
WINNEBAGO COUNTY (WREX) -
Bill Hintz and Frank Fitzgerald have won their respective party's nomination for the race for Winnebago County Coroner.
The Winnebago County Coroner is in contention after Sue Fidducia, the current Coroner, announced her retirement after decades of service in her position. Fidducia's Deputy Coroner, Bill Hintz, is running for the position to fill her shoes against Karla Zeal.
The race is highly contested, with two nominees for the Democratic and Republican sides. Frank Fitzgerald and Tony Gasparini contended on the Democratic side, which was a furious race as both work at the same funeral home in the county.
Hintz and Karla Zeal faced-off on the Republican side. However, Hintz entered the race at a slight advantage as the current Deputy Coroner.
Both Hintz and Fitzgerald will face off in the general election in November.
