Sectional Tuesday - Auburn advances, Belvidere bows out

The 3-A and 4-A boys basketball postseason continued on Tuesday night as two NIC-10 teams took the court, eyeing spots in Friday's sectional championship games.

The Auburn Knights will play in their third consecutive sectional title contest, winning the Rock Valley College 4-A sectional semifinal against Algonquin Jacobs, 58-39. Shidyae Evans poured in 22 points to lead Auburn. The Knights lost to Geneva in last year's sectional final, and won the 2014 championship before losing to Stevenson in the Super-Sectional round.

Auburn will play for a spot in this season's Sears Centre Arena Super-Sectional in Hoffman Estates on Friday against the winner of the Prairie Ridge-St. Charles East semifinal.

The 3-A bracket sent Belvidere to Woodstock North for the sectional semifinals, where the Bucs lost to Glenbard South, 56-47. Austin Revolinski put together a 14-point night for Belvidere. The Raiders will play the winner of the Boylan-Kaneland semifinal in Friday's championship game.
