From paintings to sculptures, students across the area showcase their talents right here in Rockford.
The Rockford Art Museum hosted its 75th Annual Young Artist Show Sunday, teachers from schools within 50 miles of the museum submitted more than a thousand pieces to be considered by this year's jurors. More than 100 artists and their pieces were chosen, including drawings, mixed media and digital work.
Honorable mentions, best in show and even a portfolio scholarship were awarded.
"The jurors really look at not only technical skill, but conceptual skills," said Miranda Lindvall, the Education Coordinator of the Rockford Art Museum. "So the thought that goes into the work and how the students are challenging themselves and also, discovering new ways to express themselves."
The Young Artist exhibit will remain at the Rockford Art Museum through April 3.
