Police say resident stops burglary in progress on Rockford's southeast side
ROCKFORD (WREX) -
According to Rockford Police, a resident was able to stop their home from being burglarized.
Police were called to the 100 block of Hunter Ave. around 4 a.m. Saturday morning.
They found and detained a person nearby fitting the description given by a victim, who told police that a suspect broke their screen door to gain entry into their home. The suspect allegedly broke a window as well.
Police say the victim confronted the suspect before he got into the victim's home and the suspect walked away.
Justin Caldwell, 32, was arrested and charged with Burglary and Criminal Damage to Property. He will appear in court Monday.
