Regional and sectional championship trophies were dispersed to local teams on Friday as the boys basketball postseason continued into its final weeks.
Winnebago fell to Rockridge in the 2A sectional final at Princeton, 45-38. Brandon Suggs (8) and Daniel Rosenstiel (12) combined for 20 Indians points, and they erased a 10-point halftime deficit and cut it to just two, but the Rockets had enough at the end to beat Winnebago in the sectional final for the second straight season.
Boylan and Belvidere are both going to the Woodstock North sectional in the 3A bracket, as both NIC-10 teams won regional titles. The Titans knocked off Woodstock Marian at Freeport, while the Bucs eliminated Genoa-Kingston.
Dixon's 3A regional championship night was spoiled by La Salle-Peru as the Cavaliers sent the Dukes home with a 49-39 victory in Lee County.
Auburn will have a homecourt advantage in the RVC sectional next week, winning the 4A regional title against Hononegah at Harlem. The Knights will play Algonquin Jacobs in the semifinals. Jefferson's season came to an end at Crystal Lake South against Prairie Ridge. The Wolves will face St. Charles East in the other RVC semifinal.
