WINNEBAGO - (WREX) -

While many people may have enjoyed their Saturday relaxing, some were hard at work...including leader dogs.

Leader Dogs for the Blind took part in a demonstration Saturday at the Winnebago Public Library.

Adults and kids came out to learn more about what leader dogs do and how they're trained. Experts say they start young.

"When we get the dog we get the dog at 7 weeks old, it's like a starter kit," said Dennis Nelson, a Puppy Counselor for Leader Dogs. "You have seeds and plant them in the ground, these dogs are just starting to develop and learn."

The event was free and hosted by the lion's club.
