River District Association: 'New' investors banking on downtown Rockford
A lot more new investors are stepping up to the plate to develop downtown Rockford.
That's the word from the River District Association's leaders.
Thursday night, the non-profit that promotes business and residential growth downtown updated its members at Magpie.
They say more than $20 million worth of projects are under construction already this year in downtown Rockford. That's on top of the $40 million already spent last year.
"I think people are beginning to realize that things are changing downtown," said Gary W. Anderson, who is with the River District Association. "Certainly what we've done with the video to give a little glimpse of what's going on inside these buildings have made a difference."
Anderson says downtown has more of a 24/7 feel lately with the addition of new lofts and businesses in 2015.
