Ethnic Heritage Museum honors Rockford's local Black History in Williams-Washington exhibit
ROCKFORD (WREX) -
While it is Black History Month nationwide, one museum's new exhibit honors local families right here in Rockford.
"We're talking about three generations of family members here who have all contributed to life in Rockford," said David Ruffin, Board of Directors of the Ethnic Heritage Museum.
The Williams-Washington family exhibit at Ethnic Heritage Museum celebrates the many accomplishments of Rockford's Freda Williams and her family. One of those being her granddaughter, Michelle Williams, who is best known as a part of the band Destiny's Child.
A special musical tribute by Michelle's sister, Denise will be next Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the museum.
