ROCKFORD (WREX) -

Rockford Police say  a standoff with a man inside a residence at the 1100 block of Elm Street has ended peacefully. The suspect surrendered to officers without incident, and no injuries were reported.

Police say they responded to a call saying shots were fired outside near the 1100 block of Elm at about 2 a.m., then responded to shots fired inside the residence in the 1100 block at about 3 a.m.

Assistant Deputy Chief Pann says 27-year-old Anthony Windom was inside the residence and is wanted on a probation violation.

South Avon Street and Elm Street near the standoff were shut down, and police ask citizens to stay clear of the area.

Tactical teams, crisis negotiators, a mental health professional from Rosecrance and the suspect's family were on the scene.
