For the third year in a row, local sophomore, junior, and senior high school students have been invited to Rock Valley College for a fun day of exploration that will help them discover how to tap into an entrepreneurial spirit.
The third annual "Imagine Me" event will take place today from 8:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. in the Physical Education Center (PEC) on RVC's main campus (3301 North Mulford Road).
This year's theme is "Innovation to Realization" and will feature keynote speaker Mr. Jason Johnson, owner of TORCH Barbershop, and creator of TORCH Leadership Foundation. On top of his own personal success, Mr. Johnson has dedicated a portion of his time, talents, and financial resources to inspire and ignite the hidden treasure, entrepreneurial spirit, and creativity in men, women, and youth.
Other highlights of the Imagine Me event will include workshops where students can learn about topics including: Mobile App Development, Using 3-D Printers to Market Your Start-up, Personal Branding and Networking for Today's Entrepreneur, and more. Students will also be able to interact with local business owners as part of the "Startup Showcase."
In all, there will be approximately 300 high school students participating in the event, representing the following high schools: Rockford Auburn, Belvidere, Boylan Catholic, Durand, Rockford East, Rockford Guilford, Hononegah, Rockford Jefferson, North Boone, Oregon, Roosevelt, South Beloit, and Winnebago.
