Wichita State senior and Rockford Auburn alumnus Fred VanVleet is one of twenty players to be named to the Oscar Robertson Trophy watch list, awarded to college basketball's player of the year by U.S. Basketball Writers Association.
Since returning from early season injuries, VanVleet has returned to form for the Shockers, who currently lead the Missouri Valley Conference with a perfect 8-0 record. Wichita State has won nine in a row overall.
VanVleet currently leads the team in assists and steals in MVC play, and is second in scoring and rebounding in conference games.
The national polls have taken notice of Wichita State's recent hot streak - the latest AP poll has the Shockers ranked 22nd, while USA Today's poll has them ranked 25th in the country. VanVleet and company return to action at home this Wednesday against Loyola (IL).
