Senior Travon Baker was named Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week for the second time this season after averaging 20 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals last week in a pair of wins against Central Michigan (Jan. 19) and Toledo (Jan. 22).
Baker opened the week with a game-high 19 points as the Huskies rallied from down seven at halftime to defeat Central Michigan, 75-70. The Huskie senior played 39 minutes, going 7-of-15 from the field with five rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals.
Against Toledo, Baker netted a game-high 21 points, including six three-pointers, to go along with a team-high nine rebounds, two assists and two steals. Baker’s second steal against the Rockets was the 163rd of his NIU career, tying him with Ronald Minter (1993-97) for the NIU record.
NIU will return to action on Tuesday night, Jan. 26, as the Huskies travel to Akron to face the Zips. Game time at Akron is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT.
