Local snowmobile club makes snow for annual sculpting competition
ROCKFORD (WREX) -
Rockford is hosting the 30th Annual Illinois Snow Sculpting Competition next weekend.
Without much snow in Rockford, the Rockford Park District says volunteers, including a local snowmobile club are helping make its own snow. Snow making equipment is rented, the airport is providing the cold water needed and mother nature is letting Rockford borrow cold temperatures.
The snow will be made today at the airport to have by next weekend for the competition that will run Wednesday through Saturday. Monday the man-made snow will be carted over to Sinnissippi Park, where the competition will be held.
