Vice President Joe Biden is praising Bernie Sanders' record on guns and inequality.
He's contrasting the Vermont senator with his rival for the Democratic presidential nomination, Hillary Clinton. Biden tells CNN that Clinton is relatively new to talking about wealth disparities and those being left out in the economy. He says Sanders has credibility on the issue and is doing "a heck of a job" in the campaign.
Biden says he never thought Clinton was the prohibitive favorite for the nomination.
The vice president is also defending Sanders following a dispute over whether President Barack Obama could support Sanders because of his previous vote shielding gun manufacturers from liability. Biden says Sanders has voiced support for Obama's position on guns and is acceptable on the issue.
