The National Hockey League named Chicago Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford its first star of the week, ending December 13. Edmonton's Taylor Hall and Carolina's Justin Faulk were named the other two stars.
Crawford went 3-0-0 with a 0.33 goals-against average, .989 save percentage and two shutouts to help the Blackhawks climb into second place in the Central Division. He stopped 36 of 37 shots in a 4-1 win over Nashville before posting consecutive shutouts against Winnipeg and Vancouver. He made 55 total saves in those two wins.
Crawford shares the NHL lead with four shutouts this season, owning a 15-7-2 record in 24 appearances (2.23 GAA, .924 SV%), including four straight wins.
